Primary prevention- BEFORE an issue develops.

Secondary prevention- identify an issue right after it develops but can slow, stop or reverse negative help impacts

• screening to detect early stages of cancer (mammogram, colonoscopy) 
• diet and exercise programs to prevent more heart damage

Tertiary prevention- lessen the impact of illness or injury

• chemotherapy
• rehabilitation after a stroke
• preventing complications from injury or illness
